#elemental impurities - New EU standards for maximum levels of lead and cadmium

Important update for exporters: At the end of August 2021, the EU lowered the permissible maximum levels of lead and cadmium in certain raw materials and foodstuffs such as cereals, fruit, vegetables, spices, baby food, and wine.
This can lead to Swiss export products not being in compliance with EU standards until the Swiss laws are amended. The laws are estimated to be adapted by the end of 2022.
